Collection Organization

The Korean-Canadian Heritage Archives (KCHA) collection is divided into two sub-collections depending on which institution the resources have been collected by.

Resources collected by the University of Toronto Libraries have been divided into two sub-sub-collections, Dr. Yu Collection and General Collection.

Dr. Yu Collection consists of Korean Canadian heritage resources which have been donated by Dr. Chae-Shin Yu, a former Korean Studies Professor at the University of Toronto and one of the pioneers in Korean Canadian Studies in Canada. Dr. Yu Collection is a relatively large collection and it consists of various types of resources (ie. letters, newsletters, books, photographs, ephemera such as leaflets and brochures, personal documents such as awards, and news clippings regarding Dr. Yu). In order to provide guidance for our users in navigating through Dr. Yu Collection, the KCHA project team prepared a finding aid. 'Dr. Chai-Shin Yu Collection - Finding Aid' can be found in: Collections → KCHA-UOT → Dr. Yu Collection

Resources in each sub-sub-collection were further divided into different groups based on their content formats. Please refer to the 'Collection Item Type' menu for detailed information (Guide to Database → Collection Item Type).

Resources collected by the University of British Columbia Library have been divided into two sub-sub-collections, General Collection and Young Ju Ahn Collection.

Resources in the General collection were further divided into different groups based on their content formats. Please refer to the 'Collection Item Type' menu for detailed information (Guide to Database → Collection Item Type).
